Places to Visit in Kozhikode
Kozhikode is a beautiful city located in the state of Kerala near the Malabar Coast. This place is also known as Calicut and has played a crucial role in the Indian history. Being an important point for eastern spice trade during the middle ages, it was fondly called the “City of Spices”. Today it stands out as one of the most visited tourist spots because of its portrayal of beautiful nature along with outstanding human creation. Recently in 2012, the place was tagged as “City of Sculptures” as various sculptures are located in the city.
Thikkoti Light House
The thikkoti lighthouse has its different significance and history attached to it. The monument is built on the remains of a shipwreck from a boat, trashed at the rocky seashore. The memorial is incredibly constructed and reminds the people of the accident that took place here years ago.
Beypore is a small village located in the district of Kozhikode. Earlier, natives call it by the name, Vaypura. It was also named after the very famous Tipu Sultan as “Sultan Pattanam”. The village is very peaceful, serene and pure regarding the environment and has a historical past associated with old ports where trading initiated between Asia and the Middle East.
