Kozhikode is a beautiful city located in the state of Kerala near the Malabar Coast. This place is also known as Calicut and has played a crucial role in the Indian history. Being an important point for eastern spice trade during the middle ages, it was fondly called the “City of Spices”. Today it stands out as one of the most visited tourist spots because of its portrayal of beautiful nature along with outstanding human creation. Recently in 2012, the place was tagged as “City of Sculptures” as various sculptures are located in the city.

Thikkoti Light House

The thikkoti lighthouse has its different significance and history attached to it. The monument is built on the remains of a shipwreck from a boat, trashed at the rocky seashore. The memorial is incredibly constructed and reminds the people of the accident that took place here years ago.



Beypore is a small village located in the district of Kozhikode. Earlier, natives call it by the name, Vaypura. It was also named after the very famous Tipu Sultan as “Sultan Pattanam”. The village is very peaceful, serene and pure regarding the environment and has a historical past associated with old ports where trading initiated between Asia and the Middle East. The small village is also known for constructing wooden ships.

Kappad Beach


This beach is not only beautiful but is also serene. It is a peaceful and clean place where you will simply love to be. Also, besides the long stretch beach, you can also view a temple situated on a rock, which is about 800 years old. The locals call this rock-studded beach as Kappakkadavu, and this beach is the gateway to the Malabar Coast. Travellers can reach the beach by backwaters through the River Korappuzha.

Kozhikode Beach


This beach is quite famous among tourists from all over the world. Not only for its historical importance but also for its natural beauty and serenity that attracts travellers. It is a favourite spot for viewing the spectacular sunset. Also, there is an old lighthouse and two old crumbling piers, each more than a century old. And, near to the beach, you can spend your time at the Lions Park and the Marine Water Aquarium.

Tali Temple


Swami Thirumulpad built the Tali Temple in the 14th century. This temple is one of the greatest attractions of Calicut. It is made with a remarkable combination of laterite along with wood. Also, the abundant evidence of the southern architecture makes this temple more amazing.

This temple is famous not only because of its architecture but due to its annual festival as well. Each year the festival celebrated here consists of various intellectual as well as cultural events. It is known as the Revathy Pattathanamand it is the annual festival of the temple.

This fall is situated in a beautiful surrounding and also has picture perfect view to offer to the visitors. One can easily enjoy trekking and river rafting here.
