Anand is a district of Gujarat state, carved out of the Kheda district in 1997. Anand lies between Ahmedabad and Vadodara on the Western Railway.
Anand district is famous as the Milk Capital of India because of renowned Amul dairy and its Milk Revolution. It also hosts the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) of India and Anand Agricultural University. The IRMA (Institute of Rural Management) campus is also located in Anand. IRMA runs a Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Rural Management which is considered to be one of the best in the world.
Karamsad is a city and a municipality in Anand district of Gujarat. It is the brought up place of one of India’s greatest leaders, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who raised the Indian Independence Movement. The place is also home to his elder brother Vithalbhai Patel, who was a prominent political leader. Karamsad is famous for Pramukh Swami Medical College.
