The literal meaning of Arunachal Pradesh is ‘Land of the dawn-lit mountains’. It is surrounded by Gudpi and Chong Chugmi and a mind-blowing River flows there too which is known as Tawang Chu River. The main attraction there is the Tawang monastery which stands magnificently at a height of 113 feet long and has a width of 80 feet. Other significant points at Tawang are Indo-China border, Jaswant Garh, Tawang War Memorial, Tawang Craft Centre, Brahma-dung-Chung Ani Gompa, Urgelling Gompa, etc.
Itanagar, being the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, is a well-connected city and has a number of sites with beautiful sights to offer. It is situated at an altitude of 350m above sea level. Amongst numerous architectural wonders, Itanagar Fort is very renowned amongst tourists. Apart from that other attraction points include Ganga Lake, Gompa Buddha Vihar, etc.
Ziro is a very popular site for trekking all around the world. It is situated on a plateau. The place is so perfectly surrounded with nature that you would absolutely forget that you are in this world and not some other world. Apart from the main attraction which the place itself is Ziro has other sites too such as Kardo Hills, Talley Valley, Talley Wildlife Sanctuary, etc.
Bomdila is located at a height of 8000 feet from sea level. Just a glimpse of snow-covered Himalayan Mountains and breathtaking views of Kangto and Gorichen Peaks will absolutely stun you. The most important destination at Bomdila is the Bomdila Monastery. This Monastery is completely rich with art and craft. This craft center displays a sample of local craft and statues of Buddha. You can also visit Sessa Orchid Sanctuary which homes 2600 orchids of 80 species.
Bhalukpong is about 56 km away from Tezpur town. It is one famous picnic destination for the locals where tourists also enjoy adventure sports here. Different types of trekking are organized here and those who are interested in water sports can enjoy river rafting in the Kameng River. If it is possible, try to visit in March because at that time you will be able to enjoy the local Nyethidow Festival.
For all the nature lovers, this place is nothing but a visual treat. Roing has some amazing valleys and breathtaking flora and fauna that will take you by your feet. Now, whether you are with your friends, family or better half, it will give you the perfect atmosphere that will help you to create some memorable moments with them. This picturesque valley is situated on the banks of Dibang River. When you go towards Roing to Bismaknagar, you will see some amazing vibrant orange orchids.
Changlang is a beautiful hill which provides various altitudes ranging from 200 meters to 4500 meters. And as if this wasn’t enough, there are a number of rivers in the region like Noa-Dehing, Namchik, Tirap, Namphuk, Dapha, etc which acts as a primary water source for the locals there. The cemetery of world war is situated here too which provides visitors a connectivity to the past.
Mechuka is a wonderful hill station which has both historical and religious significance. And not just that, it is located at an altitude of 1829m above sea level and that offers you an enchanting and panoramic view of the lush green meadows. There is a 400-year-old Samten Yongcha monastery which is located on the hilltop and overlooks surging terrain. Main festivals celebrated here are Losar festival and Mopin festival.
Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary
If you are an absolute flora and fauna lover, then Pakhui Wildlife sanctuary is only for you. And if you are a wildlife photographer then it’s just a cherry on the top because here you might find big wild cats flaunting and playing in the sanctuary like kids. Three types of wild big cats can be found here namely common leopard, Panthera tigris, and clouded leopard. Here are 2000 species of plants, 40 species of mammals, 36 species of reptiles, and 30 species of amphibians.
This is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the country. It looks like white sheets of water is falling from a large height. Being a largely unknown place, it is completely virgin and unexplored and since that it offers some very raw and beautiful sight to you.
Gorichen Peak is the highest peak of Arunachal Pradesh and is situated at an altitude of 22,500 feet above sea level. It is roughly 164 kilometer from Tawang. It is locally known as Sa-nga Phu which literally means the kingdom of deity. The local Monpa tribe believes that this sacred peak protects them from all evils.
Sela Pass is situated at a height of 2244 m from sea level and for the trek lovers, the place is paradise. The blue water natural Lake, snowcapped mountains will give you an amazing sight to cherish for a lifetime. If you love cold places to spend your time at then do visit the place for once.
If you are at Palsighat, know that you are standing in the oldest town of Arunachal Pradesh. Located at a distance of 270 km from Itanagar the place offers some mind-blowing sights of snowcapped mountains, Rocky Mountains and a wide variety of beautiful flora and fauna. For all the adventure junkies, water sports at Siang River is the prime attraction where they can enjoy sports like River Rafting, etc. One should not miss the Daying Ering Wild Life Sanctuary while he is there.
Parasuram Kund is a holy place for people there. The main festival celebrated here is Makar Sankranti. Best time to visit Parsuram Kund is November to February to witness the best views. People generally take a dip in the holy water of Brahma Kund to wash off their sins and attain penance.
There isn’t a better place to go for all the peace and serenity lovers. The best thing to witness at the place is the confluence of Lohit and Delai rivers. Hayuliang is 100 km from Tezu which is basically tiny settlement nuzzled amidst lofty hills. To reach Hayuliang, you can hire a private vehicle. There is also a government inspection bungalow where you can enjoy a comfortable stay but before that, you need to take permission from the government office.
