How To Make Correction In Aadhaar Card?

Aadhaar Card application form requires many details of the individual to be filled in. In the process of filling in so many details, it is normal to make mistakes. However, later when these mistakes come in notice one would want to rectify it. Keeping this in mind Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI has various ways to make the correction in Aadhaar Card process easier and hassle free.

The mistake can be in anything like a wrong name, date of birth, address, number etc. In some cases, people also want to update their new address in the Aadhaar Card database.

Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI has provided both online and offline facilities to make corrections in Aadhaar Card.

Applicants applying online for the correction process would have to visit the official Aadhaar website. To understand the process in detail given below are the step by step instructions.

1. Aadhaar self-service update portal

Open the Aadhaar self-service update portal page on the official website of Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI.https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/update

2. Login with Aadhaar

Mention your Aadhaar Card number in the box “Enter your Aadhaar number”. After this click on the “send OTP” button and an OTP i.e., one-time password will be sent automatically to your mobile phone. Keep in mind the mobile phone number should be the same you filled initially in the Aadhaar Card application form.

3. Data update request

An application form will open in front of you after the login process. In this form mention the required changes you want in your Aadhaar Card. Make sure you fill the form very carefully.

4. Document Upload

Next step will be to upload the supporting Documents for Aadhaar Card through the upload options given on the page. You will have to update the documents as per the changes you want. For example, if you want to update your address you will have to upload a document with your new address proof. The documents you can upload are:

5. BPO Service provider selection

The final step is to select a BPO service provider i.e. Karvy or Aegis and submit your form.

After following the steps, you will receive a request reference number through SMS and then you can check your Aadhaar Card status after a few days.

If the applicants don’t want to make corrections online due to lack of internet facilities or any other reason they can do it offline also by sending out the form through post. Follow the steps given below to make corrections in Aadhaar Card.

  1. Download the application form on the official website of Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI. You may need internet for this step. You can always visit the nearby cyber cafes to get the form downloaded.
  2. After you have downloaded the form, fill in all the details very carefully.
  3. Put your sign on the Aadhaar Card updation form.
  4. Enclose all the documents required with the form.
  5. Send your form to the Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI regional office. The addresses of the regional offices are given below:
