How to apply for the driving license? Find out the documents required for both Driver’s license as well learner’s license. 

For driving vehicles in India or any other country, there is a need for a certified document by the Government of that particular country i.e. Driving License. It is the important document that authorizes an individual to drive the transport of any type. It is compulsory to have a driving license to get the legal permission to drive a vehicle, and it can also help as the identity proof of the person.


And, to obtain driving or learner’s license, there is a particular method available online that you can follow while applying for Driving license or Learning license.

Apart from this, for both the type of license, you should submit the relevant documents for the record purpose and identification to get the Driving License or Learner’s License.

Documents Required For Driving License (DL)

The following list of records is to be submitted along with the application form (form 9):

  • Learner’s License.
  • Address Proof: Any of the following documents can be presented as evidence of address-
  • Ration card.
  • Passport.
  • Voter’s identity card (EPIC Card).
  • Life insurance policy.
  • Utility bills like electricity, telephone bill, gas bill.
  • State or Central Government issued pay slip.
  • Proof of age: Any one of the followings can be submitted as evidence of age-
  • PAN card (Personal Account Number).
  • School matriculation certificate.
  • Voter ID card (EPIC card).
  • Passport.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Driving school certificate (for a transport vehicle, driving license candidates).
  • All documents about the vehicle to be used for the driving test.
  • Passport-sized photograph.

Applying For Learner’s License – Documents Required

The following documents are to be uploaded along with the application form:

  • Physical Fitness Declaration (form 1).
  • Passport-sized photographs.
  • Medical certificate (form 1-A).
  • Proof of address: any one of the followings can be submitted towards evidence of address –
  • Passport.
  • Ration card.
  • Life Insurance policy.
  • Voter ID (Voter’s identity card or EPIC card).
  • Affidavit proclaimed before a Public Notary or a Judicial Magistrate.
  • Age proof: Any of the followings can be submitted towards evidence of age-
  • Passport.
  • Voter’s identity card.
  • Birth certificate.
  • School matriculation certificate.
  • Life insurance policy.
  • Affidavit proclaimed before a Public Notary or Magistrate.
