India’s main wine region is Nashik. There are various vineyards in and around Nashik that are great because they offer you tasting rooms as well. If you are a lover of fine wine then these places are the best for you. Pack your bags and reach Mumbai and take a drive to Nashik, which will take somewhat 4 hours and will reach in a world of vineyards.
Located in the Gangapur Dam area, Sula Vineyards is India’s most popular winery. Started in 1999, Sula also offers a one-day wine appreciation course every Thursday and makes up for a market share of more than 70% in India. Sulafest is held there in early February each year where you can combine wine with amazing music.
Time: 11 am to 10 pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11 am to 11 pm Friday and Saturday.
Wines: Viognier, riesling, shiraz, merlot, zinfandel, cabernet sauvignon, Syrah, Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc, rose, sparkling brut and rose.
Located on NH3, while driving to Nashik from Mumbai you can spot this Grover Zampa Winery (formerly Vallee du Vin). It has a modern setting, with sunny courtyards and patios, and can become a relaxing point to take a break. The winery’s premium Zampa wine brand is becoming recognized as one of the best in India.

York Winery was built in 2006 and is situated close to Sula Vineyards. The winery focuses on producing fruity and dry, rather than sweet wines. It’s definitely going places and is already winning awards. The winery has an outstanding gold medal Reserve Shiraz aged in oak. York Winery released its own sparkling wine, York Sparkling Brut, made from 100% Chenin blanc grapes in 2014.

Wines: Shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc, rose.
Somewhere in the same as Sula and York are the Soma Vineyards. This boutique winery opened in 2014. It has a lot of other added charm as well such as Culture Kitchen restaurant, amphitheater, conference, and wedding facility, and Vine Village resort with seven rooms and a swimming pool.
Time: 11.30 am until 6.30 pm
Wines: White wine blend, dessert wine, sparkling wine, Shiraz, Cabernet Shiraz, rose.
Located in the Dindori district to the north of Nashik is the Chateau d’Ori at the base of the Nhera-Ori hills. The unblended merlot, rare in India is served here. The place overlooks an artificial lake in the middle of the grape vines. There’s a luxury guesthouse on the property. Winery tour, tasting, and accommodation packages are offered.

Like Grover Zampa, it’s also situated in the Sanjegaon district on the way to Nashik from Mumbai. This winery brings “French Chateau” experience to India, with its unique use of French winemaking equipment and techniques. The red wines, Merlot and cabernet sauvignon, are pleasingly oaked; the Chenin blanc has a lengthy and unexpected finish while the sauvignon blanc is crisp and clean. A tasting room, restaurant, and guest accommodations are also provided.
